About Frederick Joseph Herman Voss

My ancestor was also known as Frederick John Joseph Voss and Frederick Johannes Heinrich Voss

His occupation is listed as: Grazier/Sheep Farmer.

There is an Ancestral File Number 1RND-H2B for him at http://www.familysearch.org.

Also known as Frederick John Joseph Voss and/or Frederick Johannes Heinrich Voss per: G.Shirra, see OneWorldTree "Orth Berger 2" at ancestry.com.

Frederick Voss arrived in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia on the 27th April 1855 on the ship "Daniel Ross" which departed Hamburg, Germany. With him were his twins, a son Otto and daughter Dor. It is possible that daughter Dor died on the ship as I have found no records yet.

Shortly after arrival the family was obliged by the Australian Govt of the time to undergo Naturalisation, and to anglicise their German names. Family made their way up from Port of Sydney in colony of NSW to vicinity of Moree, Gunnedah and Narrabri. First the family lived on 'Gurley Station' where Frederick worked as a shepherd and farmer. Later the family moved up to the Glen Innes area.
