Frederick Alderfer (Altörfer) & Anna Detweiler [Clemmer]
He was born 18/5/1715 in Steinsfurt, Germany. He came on the ship "Samuel" to Philadelphia in 1733. He fled to America at the age of 17 years to avoid military service in is native land, on his arrival he had no funds to pay for hiss passage so He signed an indenture with Hans Klemer (Clemmer) in Salford. In 1738 he married his widow, Ann Detweiler Clemmer (born 1715, daughter of Hans Detweiler and Susanna of Skippack; family emigrated before 1725) who had two small daughters, Susanna and Catherine (m. John Hunsberger). For 8 pounds, thirteen shillings and six pence, Frederick took over the 56 acres claimed by Hans, signing a deed with John, Thomas, and Richard Penn. He was naturalized in 1743. In 1776 he owned 490 acres, a house, a grist mill, 4 horses, 5 cows, 8 sheep. He died 7/11/1801; she had already died on 18/1/1767.

Frederick, who was christened Lutheran but became a Mennonite in Pennsylvania, immigrated to America in 1733 at the age of 18. As with many of the people of the Palatinate, Frederick came as a redemptioner, signing an indenture agreement with Hans Klemmer in 1733. Anna and Frederick are buried in Salford Mennonite Cemetery, row 8. All of their children were born in Lower Salford Twp, on the old Alderfer homestead about a mile east of Lederachville.
