BIOGRAPHY Friedrich-Carl, Graf Henckel von Donnersmarck, was born on 27 May 1905 in Romolkwitz, the fifth child of Edwin, Graf Henckel von Donnersmarck, and Wilhelmine, Gräfin Kinsky von Wchinitz und Tettau.

On 1 March 1935 in Potsdam Friedrich-Carl married Anna Ilse von Zitzewitz, daughter of Gerhard von Zitzewitz and Elsa von Stemann und Stein. They became the parents of two sons, of whom Leo Ferdinand would have progeny and Ulrich became Father Gregor a Cistercian abbot of the Heiligen Kreuz abbey in Austria.

Friedrich-Carl died in Klagenfurt on 1 September 1989. His widow died on 29 June 1996 in Friesach.
