Friedrich II Herzog von Braunschweig-Kalenberg was born circa 1424. He was the son of Wilhelm I Herzog von Braunschweig-Lüneburg and Cecilie von Hohenzollern.1 He married, firstly, Anne von Braunschweig-Grubenhagen, daughter of Erich I Herzog von Braunschweig-Grubenhagen and Elisabeth von Braunschweig-Göttingen, on 1 February 1463. He married, secondly, Margaret von Rietburg, daughter of Conrad V Graf von Rietburg and Jacoba von Neuenah, on 16 November 1483. He died on 5 March 1495.

Friedrich II Herzog von Braunschweig-Kalenberg also went by the nick-name of Friedrich 'the Turbulent'. He was a member of the House of Guelph.1 He gained the title of Herzog von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel in 1482. He gained the title of Herzog von Braunschweig-Kalenberg in 1483.1 He was deposed as Duke of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel in 1484.1
