About Gabriel Brandeis
Recorded in Mainz Memorbuch: The brothers, sons of the Av Bes Din of our congregation mvhr”r haRav Moshe Brandeis seGal, the one, Simon Brandeis seGal, a bridegroom, who died in the days prior to his wedding, his father being AB”D and R”M there in Bumsla, on Wednesday 24 Adar 1733 and was buried there and was eulogized by his father and his mechuten hagaon haRav Jehonatan m’Prag. And his brother, the martyr mvhr”r Gabriel seGal, struck down at the khx” [I think this refers to the expulsion/pogrom] in Prag by the plunderers who were doing the looting of the ?Bandorin??, and all of the streets in the Jewish quarter, on Friday, 22 Kislev 1744, and he was buried there, may G”d avenge his blood. And their father gave gold in memory of each of them.
