Gardner had a brother, Ephraim Gates (1787-1880), also located in Cambridge, Vt. Ephraim was my great, great, great grandfather. Jacob and Peggy Stewart moved to Cambridge, Vermont, in the early 1840's and brought with them two sons (Gardener and Ephraim) and their extended families. Ephraim's farm was in the center of Cambridge village and is still owned by his direct descendants. Gardner's farm was on the edge of the village and has passed out of his family.
