About Garnet Niekerk Parkin

Garnet Niekerk Parkin was first married to my mother in law's mother Coosie Terblanche. She was to a large extent brought up by Ouma Bertha as she is known in this branch of the family. We are not blood relatives, but she was very highly regarded by her 3 step children who referred to her as second mother and never as stepmother. She died on 19 January 1972 in a care home in Krugersdorp. (This needs to be corrected. on her profile. She was placed there by her daughters as she had very bad open sores from cancer and could not be nursed at home on her discharge from hospital. She is buried in Koster with GN Parkin - photo of gravestone available Verskaf deur Bernadina van der Walt - neè du Preez
