About Garret Bergen
Garret Bergen inherited a farm of 144 acres which his father, Teunis Bergen had purchased from the Bennet's family of Gowanus, Brooklyn. Garret Bergen held the office of Justice and Associated Justice of the King's county sessions court from 1802 to 1815 inclusive, and was also a Justice of the Peace from 1819 to 1823.

Garret Bergen (born January 11, 1772) held civil and church office in Brooklyn, and was married to Jane Wyckoff on January 6, 1806. Together they had eleven children, including their first born, Teunis G. Bergen, who was born on October 6, 1806.
