Son of Samuel & Catherine Hogeboom Webb. He was a businessman. He served in the Black Hawk War in 1832. In 1939 he was elected County Clerk of Alexander County and served for 18 months. He was a Colonel in the 9th Regiment during the Mexican War in the regular army. He was chosen to lead a group of men to California to mine for gold, but he became ill along the way and he returned to Illinos. In 1860 he moved to Texas & owned a large plantation. He lost his fortune and moved to Makanda IL to live with his son-in-law Ephraign Cover. He and his wife had 10 childred.
