  • William Dark of Chipping Cambden in the county of Gloster Glover-arriving in this River about the middle of the 4th month 1680 in the "Content" of London the master William Jonson-aged about 58 years.Allis his wife came in the Ship the "Charles" of London the master Edward Paine arrived in this River the latter end of the 6th month 1684 - aged about 63 years.John Dark their son born the 4th day of the 3 month 1667 arrived with his mother.
  • The "Content" of London, William Johnson, Master (Port Book E 190/88/8, wool and leather) loaded 23 June 1680 for William Dempster, a London merchant who remained in England.The two known passengers may have been loaded in Bristol or some other southern or western port.She probably made stops at southern ports before she arrived October (though in one recorded in an obvious error, arrival is indicated as 4th month (June) probably meaning that they boarded on that date.Among known passengers:
    *Samuel Dark of London, calenderer, servants: James Craft, Mary Craft

"William Darke, a Quaker aged 58, arrived in America on board the ship 'Content' the middle of April, 1680. His brother, Samuel, arrived on the same ship in 1683. William and his brother, Samuel, first lived in Burlington County, NJ. William later moved to Bucks County, PA, where he had received a grant for 235 acres near the falls of the Delaware. He received a patent for this land on April 20, 1683. William was a grand juror in 1684 and served as a member of the Colonial Assembly for Bucks County in 1685."
