About George Baxley
George was the son of John Baxley and Mary Sproul Baxley. His father immigrated from England and served in the Revolutionary War. George was one of eleven children. They were James, Jesse, John Barnabas, Mary, George, Sarah, Thomas, William, Joseph and Levi. George operated a drug store in Baltimore for may years. His son, George Washington Baxley moved to Ohio with land grants to settle in Union County. George married Mary Merriman on September 5, 1793 and they had 10 children. George and Mary were originally buried on the Clover Hill Estates owned by the Merryman family. The Estate was sold and twenty nine graves, including George and Mary were move to Green Mount Cemetery.
