About George Hayward
George became a farmer in the district of Teebus, then in the Kirkwood district but left as the lucerne lands affected his chest, so he moved to Carltonville where he joined the mines until he returned to farming in the Trappes Valley district in the Eastern Cape. He then moved to Graaff Reinet and eventually retired, firstly to Steytlerville and then to Uitenhage. He was buried in the Uitenhage cemetery.
