Biography

George Holloway - b. about 1709, Burlington Co., NJ d.1774.
George received £2 at age 21 in his father's will. After his father'sdeath, George was cared for by his uncle James PHARO, brother of his mother. Married on Sep. 10, 1731 at Springfield, NJ to Ruth WOOD (b. Nov. 11, 1744, Burlington, NJ), daughter of Asa WOOD of Hunterdon Co., NJ. The marriage was recorded at the Chesterfield Monthly Meeting of Friends, with witnesses including John and James HOLLOWAY (brothers of George), and James PHARO (uncle and foster father of George). George and Ruth lived at Bethlehem, Hunterdon Co., NJ in Feb. 1745, and moved their Friends membership from Burlington Co., NJ to the Hopewell Monthly Meeting, Frederick Co., VA on Jan. 3, 1774.
