Fake Genealogy

It has been claimed that George Lepper, here treated, is the same person as William George Leiper, a man who is said to have married Isabell Nicholson in 1670, at Glasgow in Lanarkshire, Scotland, and to have had all of his children by her baptised at Aberdeen in Scotland. It is a fact, though, that there is no mention of a man named William George Leiper, or even a child of this name, in the old parochial records of Glasgow, or Aberdeen. Moreover, all of the children attributed to William George Leiper and his wife Isabell Nicholson actually belong to George Lepper and his wife Isabel Nicolson, who were residents of Aberdeen during the period 1671-83. It would appear to be the case, therefore, that no such person named William George Lepper actually existed during the period 1671-83. Genealogyonline

It has also been claimed that William George Leiper, the man mentioned above, who has been erroneously identified with George Leiper, here treated, is the son of George Leiper, younger, Skinner in Glasgow and his wife Agnes Hill and that he was born in 1649, at Glasgow in Lanarkshire, Scotland, but a birth or baptismal record for a child named William George Leiper cannot be found. Marriage

A marriage record has not been identified for George Lepper, here treated, and his wife Isobell Nicolson, either at Glasgow, or Aberdeen. However, it seems possible that he was the man of the same name whose marriage to Christian Nicolson was booked on 17 May 1670, at Aberdeen in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The possibility of this actually being the case is suggested by the fact that George Lepper and Isobel Nicolson had the baptisms of seven children registered at Aberdeen during the period 1671-83.
