George Leiper, here treated, was probably an incomer to Glasgow. Certainly, he appears not to have been the son of an existing burgess and freeman of the burgh. He was enrolled as a burgess and freeman of Glasgow on 13 June 1608, and his burgess fee was given to William Anderson in part payment for his service as Bailie. Glasgow Burgesses, 1573-1750: 36
A date and place of death has not been identified for George Leiper, here treated. However, he is certainly known to have died before 30 July 1640, the date upon which his own son George was enrolled as a burgess of Glasgow. Glasgow Burgesses, 1573-1750: 102
