Birth: Apr. 5, 1842 Nauvoo Hancock County Illinois, USA Death: Jul. 6, 1894 Colonia Diez de Mayo Meoqui Municipality Chihuahua, Mexico

Taken from the brief story written by his daughter Pearl Melissa Brown Lillywhite Blackburn:

I was born in Colonia Diaz, Chihuahua, Mexico, March 15, 1894. My parents were George Mortimer Brown and Pearl Melissa Wilson. My father died when I was four months old. He was born in Nauvoo, Illinois and was blessed by the Prophet Joseph Smith. He drove an ox team across the plains when he was 10 years old along with his parents George Brown and Elizabeth Mills, who had joined the church in England and immigrated to America and gone to Nauvoo to join the Saints there.

Obituary: Death of George M. Brown Sheriff John A. Brown received this morning the sorrowful intelligence that his brother, George M. Brown, had died in Diaz, Mexico, on July 6th, of heart disease. The letter was brief; and conveyed no additional information except that the funeral took place on the 7th. He was born April 5th 1842, at Macedona, Ill. and consequently 52 years of age. Bro. Geo. M. Brown was well known in this Territory, and up to the time of his removal to Mexico, about eight years ago, had nearly all his life resided in this city. He was a man of excellent ability and irreproachable character; was for some years county attorney of Utah county, and had previously served a term as county collector. He was prominent in the councils of the old People's party, and was always in the front of our political battles, a vigorous and consistent defender of the People's rights and liberties. Brother Geo. M. Brown stood high in the community of Latter-day Saints. He had filled two missions honorably, and for several years was member of the High Council in this Stake of Zion. The news of Brother Brown's death will be received by thousands of Latter-day Saints in this Territory with sadness and regret
