About George B. Nestell

George B. Nestle enlisted as a Private in Company G of the Tenth Michigan Infantry on October 23, 1861, at Memphis, Michigan, for 3 years service. He was discharged on March 23, 1862, at Flint, Michigan. George re-enlisted in Company I of the Reorganized Fourth Michigan Infantry on September 27, 1864, at Wales, Michigan, for 3 years service. He contracted rheumatism and typhoid fever while in Murfreesboro, Tennessee in December of 1864. George then served as an ambulance / supply wagon driver from February 23, 1865, until being furloughed to go home on November 15, 1865. He was discharged to date of January 4, 1866, according to the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 5, 1884.

George married Submit Cobb in Jefferson County, New York, in January 0f 1844. She died in Wales, Michigan , on April 18, 1888.

George later married 40 year old Charlotte Ross, the daughter of William and Donna.
