      • ""Mr. George Poe, brother of Judge Neilson Poe and uncle of John Prentiss Poe died yesterday morning at his home, 162 North Howard Street, in the seventy-second year of his life.
      • "Mr. Poe was born in Baltimore in 1807. In early life he was a agent of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company at Ellicott's Mills.
      • "Having become connected by marriage with Messrs. Ellicott, proprietors of the Elkridge Furnaces he had charge of them for several years. He was one of the original stockholders of the Granite Manufacturing Company at Elkridge Mills, and had charge of that establishment for some time once it commenced operations.
      • " At a later time he embarked in the grain and produce business at Bowly's Wharf but has been for several years in strict retirement. He leaves a widow, one son and four daughters, one the wife of Albert G. Gilpin and another the wife of Charles Henry Wier, Jr. of this city."
