About George Casper Roush
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/6983085/george-casper-roush
A Patriot of the American Revolution for PENNSYLVANIA. DAR# A098963
"....George "Casper" Roush, a pioneer settler in the Freeburg section of Snyder County.....George Casper, father of Barbara, was a Revolutionary soldier, as were her brothers: John Jacob, John, and John George. Casper arrived in America in 1743, from Germany.......George Casper Roush (also Raush, Rausch, Rousch, Rauch, etc.) was born in Germany in 1721, and died near what is now Freeburg, Snyder County, PA., in 1815 (my records and research show 1811). He is buried in the old Zion Lutheran Cemetery, about a mile north of Freeburg, in an unmarked grave. He helped to found the church to which the cemetery was attached. "Casper," as he was commonly called, sailed for America from Rotterdam, Holland, in the British ship "Robert and Alice," Captain Martley Cusack, master, and arrived at Philadelphia, where he took the English oath of allegiance on September 24, 1742. His wife, Anna Maria Rowe, is also buried in the old Zion Cemetery.
In 1749, Casper was a landowner in Lancaster (now Lebanon) County, PA. Some of his older children, including John George, were baptized at the Hill Church (probably Lutheran) in that county. About the year 1770, Casper and other families moved into the section around Freeburg, and in that year, he, Andrew Morr, Sr., and Peter Straub, made application to the proprietors of the state for some land on which to build a church and school. In 1774, 42 acres were granted to them, about a mile north of Freeburg, and about 1780, they began a church and school there. The church was never completely finished, but was used for about 25 years. In 1787, he was assessed with 100 acres of land and personal property. In 1790, his family consisted of one male over and one under 16 years, and two females. The children of Casper and his wife were...Casper and his sons John George, John Jacob, and John, and his son-in-law, Andrew Dillman were Revolutionary soldiers. Probably some of his other sons-in-law served. Casper received depreciation pay for services in the Northumberland County militia. His actual service seems to have been in Captain Michael Weaver's Company...."
The name Rausch in German means: intoxication, drunkenness or (figuratively speaking) frenzy.
