George Rye, SV/PROG

As both Smith and Jefferson died when their children were very small, the children undoubtedly grew up in the house of their stepfather, George Rye.

He seems to have been a good stepfather, held in high esteem by his stepchildren as his stepson, George Smith, named two of his children after George Rye: the brothers George Rye Smith (1855 to 1875) and William Rye Smith (1865 to after 1927).
