About George Summers
From: http://users.hal-pc.org/~jbsum/family/n_1e.html, Accessed 4-5-2009:
Note: George Summers came to Caswell County, NC circa 1782 from Fairfax Co., VA.
He gave land which he had received for Revolutionary War service to his grandson, John Lanman, son of James Lanman and Sythe Blake Summers.
It is not definitely known whether Seth Harrison Lucas or John's second wife, Mary Blake is the mother of George. He named his daughter Sythe Blake Summers honoring both women by using a part of their name. He could have been the child of Seth but raised by Mary. Possibly Seth could have died early and John remarried while George was still young. I have connected George to Seth since that seems to be a reasonable explanation.
