About George Tennison Bernie {Australian WW1 ANZAC}
George Tennison Bernie born 15 March 1884 in Young, New South Wales, with the death of his mother Sarah (Clift) Bernie on 21 Dec 1884 and he just 9 months old was put in the care of Henry and Alice (Clift Sarah's Sister) Sivell to bring up, hence term favorite Uncle and Aunty. George had a good life working first for the govt telephone company and moved around the state of NSW in his employment where he meet his to be wife Minni Agnes Caldwell, they moved to Sydney and had 3 Children. Next, he started work as an Examining officer, H M Customs in Sydney. First world war he was called up first due to his telegraph knowledge and trained others in the field before going overseas as a Lieutenant grade 2, in the field promoted to class 1 and in charge of 1st Divisional Signal Company horse brigade and in charge of a unit being the 24th Battalion where he was Promoted date: 3 December 1917. Returning home in 1919 he returned to the Aust Customs. The war played bad on him with we believe depression until on the 26 May 1939 in Kensington, New South Wales, Australia, Coriner ruled George took his own life.
