OBITORY
The many friends of Captain and Mrs. Tinney will learn with propound regret of the death of their son George which took place at the local hospital yesterday morning. The deceased, who was one of the most popular young fellows in the district, had been in excellent health until quite recently when he complained of severe pains in the head. At first these were thought to be due to goiter from which he was also suffering, but as they grew worse it was deemed advisable to supplement the medical advice already sought and accordingly the deceased journeyed to New Plymouth. Some four weeks ago and consulted Dr. Wylie with regard to his condition. About a fortnight after his return as no improvement took place Mr Tinney was removed to the local hospital where it was hoped that under expert care and dieting he would recover his former robust health. Latterly he seemed to be improving and hopes were held out for his speedy recovery. Yesterday in fact he appeared to be more cheerful than usual and was expected to be able to get up in a few days. However shortly before seven o’clock the nurse who a short time before had washed him, on going to his bedside found him lying dead, the deceased having expired quite suddenly a few minutes previously.
The deepest sympathy will be felt for Captain and Mrs. Tinney and family in their bereavement.
The deceased who was a member of C Company, XIth Regiment,Taranaki Rifles, will be accorded a military funeral At 2.00pm tomorrow.
