At West Weber, May 9th of heart disease, George Clinton Wilson, after a short illness of about two weeks, at the advanced age of 73 years 9 month and 14 days. Deceased was born August 23d, 1800, in Milton Township, Chritenden County, State of Vermont. He moved with his father's family at the age of 22, to Richland County in the state of Ohio, and there remained till 1836 when he embraced the Gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and the following year gathered with the Saints in the State of Missouri, and settled in Caldwell County where he only remained on year as the Saints were all expelled from the County and State by the rude band of mob violence in 1838. He then moved to Illinois and settled, first in Adams County, then in Nauvoo, where he remained for seven years or till 1846 when he shared the fate of the Saints in being driven from their homes and possessions in an inclement season of the year, by an organized and disciplined mob. He settled with his family in the town of Bonaparte, then moved to Garden Grove and hence to Council Bluffs, State of Iowa, where he remained till 1853 when he emigrated with his family to Uah and settled in Ogden City, Weber County, where he remained til his death. He left a wife and 8 children to mourn his departure. Deceased was well respected by all who were acquainted with him for his honesty, integretiy and moral worth and in al the drivings and persecutions that he endured for his faith as a Latter Day Saint, he was always true to the cause and the principles he believed in and died in the hope of a glorious resurrection. At peace with all men and of peace with his God, He died as the righteous die, smiling. no cursings are strewm in the path that he trod and no harvest of hate is polluting the sod. From the seeds of his selfish beguiling. Gathered home to his father with life's battle won and with lifes priceless keys in his keeping Receiving the words, well and faithfully done Muter into that rest where each well approved son A harvest of glory is reaping.
