George, Sr., married a neighbor's daughter, Catherine Lantz. They were living at Crabbottom, Pendleton Co., WV, at Blue Sulphur Springs. It's rumored they came to Blue Sulphur Springs by ox cart--Mrs. Howard Peterson of Denver, CO.
George also helped make gun powder for the south in a cave near the Greenbrier Co., WV line during the civil war--Mr. Dale Rhoads of Chillicothe, OH.
In 1871-1872, George attempted to get a pension from service in the War of 1812. He died at age 94 in 1873 without the pension, but was awarded expensed from 1872 to his death.
