Peter died intestate--meaning he died without having made a will. This resulted in a lawsuit being filed by the children: Samson, Susanna, Mary, Frances, and Sally against their mother, Catherine, and brothers George and Elias. Peter, George, and Elias owned land in Pendleton Co and refused to share equally with their brothers and sisters.
