"No definitive records are found for her year or place of birth, a range being between 1818 and 1822, and locations noted in both Pennsylvania and Virginia. What is known is that her mother was Adelaide Johnson Hellen, the second wife of Walter Hellen Jr, and it appears clearly he was NOT the biological father, having died in 1815 before he might have conceived Georgiana with Adelaide. Recent research based on surviving Johnson family correspondence suggests the father was the much her senior Col. George Boyd Adelaide's mother's brother-in-law, but cannot be confirmed by this author. She was given the surname Hellen, the Johnsons being a prominent family, and the specifics of her birth quietly glossed over, one likely reason records are now difficult to find."

Comment: Col. Boyd is documented as living in Wisconsin between 1817 - 1822.
