About Gerald Everett Robinson
Gerald Everett Robinson found out he was adopted when he enlisted for WWII on April 30, 1945. He was put up for adoption at a very early age, at least before the age of 2 years, 3 months.
He worked at Bath Iron Works for a number of years, and later the United States Postal Service in Portland, until his retirement.
The parents listed on his birth record are John Warren Maloney and Cora Bernice (Lowd) Weeks, who were married in October 1910. John's main profession was a solder in the U.S. Army; it is the Army which brought him to Maine, as John was born in Massachusetts. Cora was born and grew up in Portland, Maine. It is thought that John may have died shortly after Gerald's birth, as he completely disappeared from records in 1916. Cora gave Gerald up for adoption, and moved to New Haven, Connecticut, where she later married a man by the name of Joseph Weeks.
DNA testing has revealed that John Maloney was not his biological father. Rather, his biological father was a lumber dealer and businessman from Milan, New Hampshire; either Sidney S. Twitchell or his brother Mark A. Twitchell, sons of Cassius M. C. Twitchell and Leonora Wentworth Twitchell. Their sister, Marion (Twitchell) Brackett, was living in Portland at the time that Gerald would have been conceived. Both Mark and Sidney married but had no children. Gerald's mother listed on his birth record, Cora Lowd, had her identity confirmed by DNA.
