About Geraldine Ann Morse

Jerrie Ann Morse December 18, 1934 - November 22, 2007

Jerrie Ann Morse, 72 years of age and a lifetime harborite, died peacefully on Thursday, November 22, 2007 at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, with her family at her side. She was born on December 18, 1934 in the Hoquiam General Hospital in Hoquiam, Washington to Levi W. and Doris Eva (Butcher) Muma. Jerrie was raised by her step-father and her mother, Otis and Doris Eva (Butcher) DeLong.

She attended Washington Grade School in Hoquiam and then Miller Junior High School and Weatherwax High School both in Aberdeen. She later attended Grays Harbor College where she earned her Associate of Arts Degree.

Jerrie was married to Raymond L. Morse on December 18, 1953 in Montesano. The couple made their home in Hoquiam for several years prior to moving to the present home in Aberdeen in 1966.

From 1967 to 1977, Jerrie had worked at the South Side Swanson, the Middle Swanson on Simpson Avenue in Aberdeen and the Hoquiam Swanson. An injury forced her to retire early.

For numerous years she had volunteered at the Miller Junior High School as one of the instructors in the Home Economics Sewing Class. Besides sewing she liked to camp, do craft works, watch her kids and grandkids in their school and sporting events. She was present at the birth of all of her grandkids and she enjoyed babysitting each and every one of them. Her family remembers her for always putting others first.

The family vacations had taken them to California, Oregon and Eastern Washington to visit relatives and see the wonderful sights in those areas.

Jerrie is survived by her husband, Raymond Morse of the family home in Aberdeen; her son, Steve Morse of Aberdeen; her daughter and son-in-law, Joni and Jeff Hunter of Peoria, Arizona; a brother, Paul Muma of Lake Stevens, Washington; a sister, Alice Lisle of Montesano and seven grandchildren, Candace Morse, Derek Abad, Ashley Hunter, Ryan Morse, Shandrea Morse, Rachel Hunter and Landon Morse. Her extended family includes several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was predeceased by her parents as well as a son, Richard Morse who died in 1957 and a brother Howard Muma who died in 1975.

A memorial gathering for family and friends will be from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm, Wednesday, November 28th at the Hoquiam V.F.W. Social Hall, 407 - 7th Street.

Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
