About Gerrit den Hartog
As per my Uncle Piet, "Uncle Gert and our Dad rented a piece of land to grow a garden. The ground was so hard, that we could not even put the potatoes in. Dad had one side of the land and Uncle Gert the other side. Uncle Gert loved to pester, so while we were working away, a clump of dirt hit us in the head. But here he had made a big mistake, because for the next half-hour, he was bombarded with clods of dirt from our side. We had a full-scale was going on, we didn't do much work, but we had a lot of fun.
Gerrit had meningitis when he was 7 or 8 years old but he was lucky, he survived it.
