Biography
Gershom Manchester married, first, about 1707, Anna ---: some say she was née Fenner, referencing: Volume 74, SAR Membership, Number: 14628. Anna's surname as FENNER can be found in the "Descendants of John Tripp of Portsmouth", [1] and also in "The Dinghy" of 1994, vols. 6-7, p. 8.[2]
Gershom Manchester married second, on December 18, 1731, Mary Farrow of Freetown, Massachusetts Bay.[3][4][5]
Gershom resided in Tiverton, Rhode Island, but in 1738-9, moved to Marblehead (now Windham), Maine, and settled on lots 15 and 16 soon after his son Stephen went to Marblehead; Gershom followed with his second wife and some of his children, built himself a house and cleared 8 acres of land.
Gershom and his sons were living in the Fort in April 1746; he was an Indian scout in Capt. George Berry's company that year.[6][7]
Gershom Manchester and second wife Mary Farrow are buried in unmarked graves at the Old Smith Cemetery in Windham.[8]
