About Gershon Levine

Gershon arrived in the US on June 28,1901 (he may have left England for Halifax Canada on March 11 1901 and from there came by boat to NY); Yetta came Feb 1905; Gerson's wife and other children joined him in 1906/7. They lived in Pittsburgh, PA. Sometime before 1920 they moved to Orlando, FL. Both Gershon ("Harry") and Esther are recorded on the Jan 12-13 1920 Federal Census in Orlando.

In 1923, he and Esther Gittel moved to Palestine.

Gershon's son Morris moved to Israel with his family and lived at 60 Allenby in Tel Aviv in the building which Gershon built (in 1924; and also lived in). To this day there is a sign on the building to that effect.

Gershon also donated money towards the building of the famous Etz Chaim Yeshiva/Soup Kitchen in Jerusalem (ca June 1934). There is/was a plaque on the building with his name.

His name also appears on plaques in two rooms of the Zichron Moshe synagogue in Jerusalem.
