Nine years later she immigrated to Palestine......Grete Wolf was born in Witkowitz, Moravia and raised in Vienna in a Jewish middle class family. Her parents supported her artistic pursuits from a very early age, probably before age ten. She Studied at the "Kunstschule für Frauen und Mädchen," founded in Vienna in 1897 by Wolf, known as Wolf–Krakauer after her marriage in 1919 to Leopold Krakauer, left a group of self–portraits. Grete Wolf-Krakauer, an established and successful artist in Vienna, arrived in Palestine with her 2-year-old daughter, Trude, in late 1924. She was following in the footsteps of her husband, artist-architect Leopold Krakauer, who had won an architecture competition in the country and shortly thereafter joined Alexander Baerwald's firm in Haifa.
