" ... the National Association for Drama Therapy (NADT) was founded in 1979 ... Among the founders was Gertrud SCHATTNER, a Viennese actress from the 1930s who worked with concentration camp survivors in Switzerland after the war through writing, drama and performance. Schattner (1981) writes that her work with performance especially provided enough containment and stimulation for many to regain their will to live. Settling in the United States after the war, Schattner went on to study psychotherapy and to work with various populations in need through children's theater, theater games, and eventually drama therapy."
