Question: If she was born in Tel Avv, as all online sources state, and she also "emigrated to Palestine in 1936," as stated here, where did she live after birth and before emigration? The Heinsheimer family was based in Germany. Should she be considered a Reich Refugee and be added to that Geni project? I am not suggesting, merely enquiring. -- cat yronwode (her fourth cousin).
About גרטרוד רות בסט (עברית)
בת פרידריך. נולדה בו' בתמוז תרס"ד (19.6.1904) בקרלסרוהה, גרמניה. רות, בת למשפחת הינסהימר, משפחת רופאים ומלומדים ידועה, חונכה באוירה רחוקה מהיהדות. עם עלות הנאצים לשלטון מצאה רות את דרכה ליהדות הדתית-ציונית ובשנת 1937 עלתה לארץ-ישראל. כאן החלה לחיות חיים של תורה ומצוות. עם היווסדו של חיל הנשים בצבא הבריטי (הא.ט.ס.) התנדבה רות לשורותיו. בכ"ה ניסן תש"ג (30.4.1943) נהרגה רות בתאונה במעון החיילות שבמגרש הרוסים בירושלים. הובאה למנוחת עולמים בבית העלמין שבהר-הזיתים.
