Gertruida's second child with Hans Grobler was Hermanus Philippus Grobler the Dorslandtrekker and member of the Dorsland Trek Commission who participated in negotiations with the Portuguese authorities and played a pivotal role in the development of the Afrikaner-community at Humpata, Angola. Hermanus first married Jannetje Wilhelmina Elizabeth Gertruida Kruger d.o. Gert Stephanus Jacobus Kruger who was the uncle of President Paul Kruger. Hermanus married secondly to Aletta Catharina Lourensina Philippina du Plessis. Aletta’s paternal aunt, Anna Maria Etrisia du Plessis (*30.04.1809), and paternal uncle, Jan Adriaan du Plessis (*02.10.1804), were the parents-in-law of President Paul Kruger.
