About Gettith Williamson

Gettith Williamson, 66, of Darien, died Friday, April 19, 2002 in the St. Vincent’s Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla. He was born March 24, 1936 in Toombs County, and had resided in Darien for the past fifteen years. He worked with janitorial services and had served in the National Guard. Mr. Williamson was the son of the late Paul Williamson and the late Johnnie Mae McLeod Williamson.

He is survived by one sister, Myra Faye Wiggins of Guyton; five brothers, Donnie P. Williamson of Cape Coral, Fla., the Rev. Wayne Williamson of Baxley, David Williamson of Brunswick, Mike Williamson of Odum and Timmy Williamson of Cincinnati, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held Sunday, April 21, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of David E. Miles Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ron Ross officiating and the eulogy by Marysteen Norris. Burial followed in the Pendleton Springs Church Cemetery in Oak Park.

Active pallbearers were Donnie Williamson, Ronnie Williamson, Michael Williamson, Bubba Williamson, Jeff Altman and Mitch Altman.

Honorary pallbearers were the staff and co-workers of the McIntosh M.R. Center and Mr. and Mrs. R.D. McLean.

Musical selections were rendered by Floyd Hunter.

Arrangements were under the direction of David E. Miles Funeral Home.
