Curator note: the following is taken from James Hicks at Geneaolgy.com, a usually reliable source. But the source citation used here is for a different William Crittenden. No where in the discussion by Mr. Hicks is the name of Jennie Sanders used as a partner. It seems a bit arbitrary to assume the use of a person of the same name when Mr. Hicks in another location specifically identifies three wives of William by name. Admittedly, the birthdate may work for this generation, but this William was born c. 1793 while the William referred to as married to Jennie Sandrrs c..1817. More research is required to determine if in fact there was more than one William at this time. Mr. Hicks is clear that he is assuming that two men named William who maintained separate households is the same “guy”. While not entirely out of the question, speculation abounds.
