About Gibeon Chavis, of Granville Occaneechi Saponi Nation

Gibrea CHAVIS was born about 1737 and married Ann PRIDDY, a white woman, the daughter of Robert PRIDDY. Gibrea lived in Granville Co., N.C., where he died in 1777. One of Gibrea's sons, William CHAVIS, is listed as Negro, suggesting to some that his mother was an African slave. Gibrea's other sons, James and Jacob, are described as mulattoes.

Gibeon Chavis, of Granville Ocaneechi Saponi Nation was born circa 1737 in North Carolina, United States. His parents were William Chavis, Sr. and Francis (Gibson) Smith-Chavis.

Gibeon married Ann Patience Chavis circa 1757. Together they had the following children: James Chavis; Jacob Chavis; William Chavis; Jesse Chavis.

He died in 1777 in Granville County, North Carolina, United States.
