Humphrey de Bohun, 7th Earl of Hereford, 6th Earl of Essex, 2nd Earl of Northampton, KG (25 March 1341 – 16 January 1373) was the son of William de Bohun, 1st Earl of Northampton and Elizabeth de Badlesmere, and grandson of Humphrey de Bohun, 4th Earl of Hereford by Elizabeth of Rhuddlan, daughter of King Edward I. He became heir to the Earldom of Hereford after the death of his childless uncle Humphrey de Bohun, 6th Earl of Hereford.
Following King Peter I's visit to England, Humphrey participated in the sack of Alexandria in 1365.[1] On his death, because he had no son, the estates of the Earls of Hereford should have passed to his cousin Gilbert de Bohun. Due to the power of the Crown, his great estates were divided between his two surviving daughters:
- Eleanor de Bohun, who married Thomas of Woodstock.
- Mary de Bohun, who married Henry Bolingbroke, the future King Henry IV of England .
- Elizabeth, died young.
His wife and the mother of his daughters was Joan Fitzalan, daughter of Richard Fitzalan, 10th Earl of Arundel and Eleanor of Lancaster, whom he married after 9 September 1359.

Humphrey de Bohun, 7t Earl of Hereford, 6th Earl of Essex and 2nd Earl of Northampton (1342-16 January 1373) was an important medieval English noble during the reign of King Edward III of England.
....
These estates went to the husbands of the daughters of Humphrey even though there was a male heir alive a cousin living in Hereford until 1381–his name was Gilbert de Bohun–who married Margaret Wastney, great-granddaughter of Robert Fitzrobert, and they had a daughter called Joan who married Walter Weaver in 1362 and had male issue. It is this issue and line that should have legally inherited all the Bohun titles and estates.
