Gilead H. Bedient served in the war of 1812 for about 3 months stationed at Sackett's Harbor. In 1833 he moved to Butternuts, NY and later to a farm near Jamestown, NY in the County (*TOWN OF) of Ellicot( in Chautauqua Co ) NY While floating logs down the Ohio River he contracted Cholera and died and was buried. His name is on a marker in the Ross Mills Cemetery but was not buried there. In 1809, one report says he left Wilton for Delaware County, NY.
