[http://www.genealogy.com/forum/surnames/topics/legare/149/], Gilles Legare was the personal jeweler to King Louis XIV (14th). Gilles Legare lived from 1617-1663 in France /Brussels area. He was a goldsmith and lived, at times, in the Palace Louvre with the King and Queen. Some of his designs are in a large picture of jewelry in the British Museum which he designed for King Louis XIV and Queen Maria Theresa of Spain.
