About Giulia Julia Strakosch Bourdillon
"The Paris gossips call the marriage of Mile. Giulia Strakosch, daughter of Mr. Maurice Strakosch, and niece of Patti, Marquise Da Caux, with M. Ernest Bourdillon, a young and rising advocate of the Cour d'Appel, a splendid matoh—a love match in the bargain, a thing not always found in France. M. Bourdillon is a handsome young fellow, of very polished manners, and will certainly make his mark. Mile. Strakosch is a sweet and winning young lady, who inherits the musical talents of her parents. A very large and fashionable assembly assisted at the nuptial benediction at the Church of Saint Augustin." -- Reprinted from the French press, in the Opelousas (Louisiana) Journal, February 12, 1875.
Julia's very large dowry, at the time of her marriage to "an attorney at law in Paris," is mentioned in her father's October 11, 1887 New York Times obituary.
"At Nantes, Giulia Strakosch, daughter of the well-known impresario, Max Strakosch, began an engagement as soprano in April {~1908}. Miss Strakosch was, as she puts it, raised in the property-room of the Metropolitan Opera House . . . ." Hearst's International, vol. 17.
Giulia was also married to Kenneth Lee, in London.
