Glenn Russell Shank

He was born February 12, 1931, in Apple Grove, WV, a son of the late Walter Russell Shank and Nancy (Bateman) Shank.

Glenn served in the United States Army, during the Korean Conflict and was a retired member of the 3664th Maintenance Company of the Army National Guard, Point Pleasant, WV.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Nellie R. (Overby) Shank; two grandsons, Bryan K. Buckle and Chad Brodsky; and three brothers, Charles "Curly" Shank, Robert Milton Shank and Herschel Harold Shank.

He is survived by his three children, Beverly Ann and Mike Buckle of Apple Grove, Gregory Alan Shank of Huntington and Melba Lynn Shank of Tampa, FL; one stepdaughter, Vickie (Romey) Swanson of Bidwell; three grandchildren, Brandon (Ashley) Buckle of Apple Grove, Jarrod Brodsky of Washington, DC and John Luca Harris of Tampa, FL; two step-grandchildren, Melissa (Richard) Huffman of Gallipolis and Adam (Karen) Allie of Georgetown, KY; three great-grandchildren, Connor Buckle and Mya Dawn Buckle of Apple Grove and Anna Grace Buckle of South Point, OH; five step-great-grandchildren, Ashlee Huffman, R.J. Huffman, and Caleb Patterson of Gallipolis, and Rhema and Daniel Allie of Georgetown, KY. Also surviving are three sisters, Thelma Sturgeon, Nellie Lake and Ruth Meadows all of Huntington; two sisters-in-law, Faith Ann Shank of Bellefountaine, OH and Evalee Shank of Gallipolis.

A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow at the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens in Gallipolis, with military graveside rites by the West Virginia Army Honor Guard and American Legion Post 23 of Point Pleasant. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
