About Gnr. William George Masson
William George Masson was the son of William Topp Masson and Sarah Jane Masson (Rodda) who had married in New Zealand in 1888. He was a blacksmith before he joined up to serve during World War I. William was a Gunner with the New Zealand Field Artillery, 4th Howitzer Battery, 3rd Brigade. He was wounded and taken to the 12th General Hospital in Rouen where he died of his wounds. William was buried in the St. Sever Cemetery Extension (bio by Debbie McCauley, 6 January 2024).
