Godfrey Thornton, the third child, was born 16th October 1737, lived at Moggerhanger House. One time Chairman of Lloyds of London, member of the Russian Company, a Russian merchant of Austin friars and Aldermanbury, Director of the Bank of England 1772 – 1801, Deputy Governor 1791 – 93 and Governor 1793 – 95. High Sherriff of Bedfordshire in 1803. He married Jane Godin, co-heiress of Peter Godin on 31st July 1766. They had five children. He inherited Everton estate from his brother in 1801 and died on 12th November 1805 and was buried at Blunham. Jane died in 1811 and was buried at Blunham.
