About Grace Cock
Grace Bolitho was baptised on the 15th June 1651 at Wendron, Cornwall, the daughter of Thomas Bolitho & his wife Nora Pascoe.
On the 27th October 1674 at Wendron, she married to Christopher Cock/Cocke. There are no Christopher Cock/Cockes baptised at Wendron, but there is one baptised at Constantine [to Thomas & Mary], where the couple seem to have returned to live by 1682.
They baptised two sons in Wendron; Thomas in 1675 & then Christopher in 1677. There are no further records for a Grace & Christopher Cocke at Wendron. However, there are at Constantine, so it may well be that the couple relocated back to Christopher's birthplace. Baptisms of children to Grace and Christopher Cock at Constantine are Jane in 1682, Nicholas in 1686, William in 1688 & Bathsheba in 1693.
The "Captain Christopher Cocke" who died in Virginia in 1716 did not mention a wife in his will, but did have 4 underage daughters; Mary, Ann, August & Elizabeth. These daughters must therefore have all been born after 1700, so could not [because she would have been over 50], children of Grace Bolitho. It is possible that she died & her husband emigrated & married again, but records indicate that Christopher was there before 1690, so unlikely to be this Christopher.
An additional reason to eliminate Christopher is that records are clear that the Christopher who accompanied Thomas, William & Walter was a cousin, rather than a brother.
