About Graf Hermann von Neuenahr
Count Hermann of Neuenahr was one of the most influential figures Kurkölns in the 16th century. His biographer Heiner Faulenbach called him the "most distinctive figure among the German counts", the Roman nuncio Bartolomeo Portia (1525-1578) reported that "there is no more dangerous heretic in all of Germany". Hermann embodied a type of noble who was slowly dying out in the 16th century: without having had a formal office or mandate in the electorate, he had considerable influence solely because of his status, but above all because of his personality and his extensive family and political network on politics inArchbishopric . And his legacy should also ensure a high potential for conflict far beyond his death.
He died on October 12th, 1578. Since his marriage remained childless, his not inconsiderable inheritance went to his sister Walburga (1522-1600) and her second husband Adolf von Neuenahr (1554-1589), a relative from another sidelines of Hermann's own family
