At the Saturday evening of September 24, 1803, in Ludwigslust Palace, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Her Imperial Highness Grand Duchess Helena Pavlovna died from tuberculosis at age 18.

She was granddaughter and goddaughter of Catherine II, daughter of Emperor Paul I and sister of Alexander I.

In her 14 Helena was married to His Serene Highness Hereditary Prince Frederick Louis of Mecklenburg whom she bore son Paul Frederick, future Grand Duke of Mecklenburg(-Schwerin), and daughter Marie.

When in 1874 Paul Frederick's granddaughter Marie married a son of Russian Emperor, she received the patronymics 'Pavlovna' in memory of her ancestor Emperor Paul.

Helena Pavlovna was buried in Schwerin.
