As a junior, Greg Drummond made his first appearance at the 2007 World Junior Curling Championships, where he competed for the Scottish team as an alternate. The team finished sixth overall. At the Winter University Games in 2011, he was part of the team that finished in fourth place finish. Drummond won two silver medals at the World Curling championships in 2011 and 2012 followed by a bronze medal in 2013.
Drummond’s main source of inspiration came from his previous coach Gordon Muirhead (Eve Muirhead’s father) who helped him to develop from a junior into a senior.
