About Guadalupe Graciela Rodrigues
My paternal grandmother. Born in Mexico. When she was a young girl, her brother, Roberto, was incarcerated during the revolution in Mexico. Her mother had to leave her in the care of others to go help Roberto. When she was unable to return, my grandmother was taken in by the Gonzalez family, who had a bachelor son that was somewhat older than my grandmother. He was reportedly a military man of some kind named Rosendo. The Gonzalez family had land and title in Mexico. She had two children with him before he died: Pedro and Luisa. Life was difficult for her after that, as she was a young widow. Then she met my grandfather, she had two more children: Graciela and Ramon. He came to the US during the Bracero Programs of WWII. She followed him to the United States maybe around 1947-48. When she came to the US she settled near Harlingen, Texas and first met Consuelo Morales, who is my wife's paternal grandmother. She remained until the 1960's when she moved to Taylor Texas, then briefly lived in Dallas with our family before returning to Mexico where she died in 1973. She is buried near Mexico City where her firstborn lived.
In August 2003 talk with my aunt Graciela Medrano Quintanilla, she told me her mother's maiden name was Graciela Rodriguez Orega. She was 14 when she married Gonzalez. I spoke to my dad and saw the actual birth certificate for my dad and his mother is identified as Graciela Rodrigues daughter of Aurelio Rodrigues and Dolores Garcia (I was told by my aunt that her mother was named Pachita
